Leeds Coffin Club

In Autumn 2026, I’m really pleased to announce that I’m launching a Coffin Club in Leeds!

The Coffin Club originally started in New Zealand ten years ago when a group of older Kiwis decided to build their own coffin and started educating themselves about how to do death differently. There’s a wonderful musical video here which they created. You have so many options around funerals. The thing is you don’t know what the options are.

The two Kates in Hastings, brought the Coffin Club over to the UK in 2019 and started La Funeral Revolution by training people like myself to set one up in their area. The idea is an educational space, open to all, that helps break taboos around death and dying. We’ll be

  • Busting some myths around funerals

  • Looking at issues around Probate, Wills and ReSPECT forms

  • Options around funerals

  • Types of cremation and burial

  • There’ll be a talk from a Funeral Director, and possibly one from an Embalmer

  • And more!

The Coffin Club isn’t a grief club, though obviously it’s an emotive subject. I’ll be aiming to keep things light, with some humour and hopefully some refreshments.

I need to know best times of the day/evening to run the club, Let me know if you have any questions. I’m excited to be running this and look forward to hearing from you soon!
